Package "Art, Culture & Architecture"
|
"Art, Culture & Architecture"Cologne has undergone many changes in her near 2000 year history. To the first time visitor the Cologne Cathedral will be the most noticeable landmark. The foundation of this remarkable cathedral was laid in 1248 and it took 632 years to reach completion. It is still the largest cathedral in Germany. Next door to the cathedral you will find the Roman-Germanic Museum, one of the most visited museums in Germany. The museum is built on the walls of a Roman town villa and houses the largest collection of Roman glass and a collection of exquisite jewellery of that era. Other museums of interest are the Museum Ludwig, the Cologne Town Museum, the Wallraf Richartz, the German Sports and the Olympic Museum. For chocolate lovers there is the inescapable Chocolate Museum. The musical dome, situated next to the hotel, offers a variety of musicals. |
